I had the great fortune to work with a very talented signer songwriter Imani Coppola, a few years back. I just got word that she will be featured on VH1′s Best One Hit Wonders of the 90′s. And even though the title says she is a one hit wonder, this is far from the case. She has many great songs, and her recent album is killer. Congratis Imani! Visit her official website / Listen to her music / See her video

Just publishing a new book of my photography. This is a series of images i have been taking & collecting over the years, entitled Love In Unexpected Places. A selection of images that i have captured in which a heart has been present. None of the images were set up or doctored to make a heart, nor did i include any where the “heart” has been drawn or made intentionally. All of this is happening by chance. I think of it kind of like a “Wheres Waldo” but with hearts…Have a look see and let me know what you think.

So today interestingly enough i don’t speak of a job we did, rather one that we didn’t. This is more for the photogs out there (new and seasoned). Over the past couple of months there has been some great activity….followed by some unfortunate turns. Its all part of the business. You get out to bat, sometimes you hit it out of the park and sometimes you strike out. But i always try to remember, getting up to bat is a success in of itself. I was reminded of this when watching one of the award shows recently. There were a set of actors each with impressive careers, and current kudos for a recent project. But only one wins. The others kick the dirt and move on. The accomplishments no less than when they got the nomination.

This comes up for me because i was recently nominated for PDN’s Top 30 Photographers (got up to bat) but didn’t make it to the final selection (and struck out) Yes truthfully it does stink, but in reality i was short listed, i was considered one of the better photogs from a large International circuit. Not too shabby, i say :) But in continues, I was notified i was being considered for to shoot imagery for a new Broadway show (Up to Bat) Super cool ! Time went on, i figured i was out…Get an email Asking if i would want to work with the Show…(Back Up to Bat)…but after a few weeks of pre pro talks the job changed agencies….and as far as i can see I am off the project (Struck Out) The silver lining here is that i was up to bat, and my work was introduced to a new market i have yet to work with, and two of the top agencies handling Broadway.

And Lastly, yes it continues… I got a call in December from a repeat client for a large 20 image campaign. NICE right!? But after a full month of pre pro a new president was appointed to the company, and he felt this campaign wasn’t necessary at this time. Understandable, but DAMN :( Up to Bat, Getting ready to hit it out of the park….but it zipps by, STRIKE! A week later i get a call from the Account Exec on the project, letting me know although that campaign was canceled there was ANOTHER campaign they needed to do. Sweet, so here we stand, fingers crossed all. We should be solidifying the project details this week, and shooting in a couple of weeks So needless to say, Even when you strike out you will still get back up to bat, and the cycle continues. Keeping Positive, and continuing to move forward is a key to success

Well as many of you know i have been fortunate enough to make the move into shooting and directing motion. This week we actually wrapped shooting a music video. I am currently not allowed to release any details, but the final piece will Air on National TV in April, and judging by the camera crews that have been following us for the past 2 days, i might be seen on the reality TV show it will be airing on. Anyways it was a really good shoot, special thanks to all the crew and support teams that made this possible. Proper thanks to our support team and sponsors will be detailed in a future post.

Its a great new app where you recommend (RECCO) restaurants, bars, music, really anything to your friends. Its like a facebook for foodies. So think of something like yelp…you get recommendations from total strangers, who you have no idea if their taste is anything like yours…or your friends. Their tagline says it best, “Trusting Friends is better than trusting strangers”. Check it out, download it to your phone in the app store.

James Butler, a musician, was introduced to by a fellow director, Paul Stone, as a perfect addition to the series. James plays all around the city, but primarily in the SoHo area. Trained as a fine artists, James made reference to how the neck of a guitar was like a #2 pencil, each tools he feels comfortable creating with. James has only been playing guitar for 3 years now, and recently taken his talent out to the streets of NYC. If you see him be sure to say hi, “Be Kind It comes back to You…I Promise” -James Butler
